Day 2: Private Full Day Open Vehicle Safari in the Kruger National Park

With the air cool and the aroma of coffee giving you the energy to get going, we set off for the Kruger National Park.

The morning hours, especially those just before the sun is fully up, are about the best time to have a game drive.

Your experienced guide knows all of the best places to drive, and they’ll take you to lesser-known watering holes and the best spots for catching sight of Africa’s Big Five as they begin their morning activities.

After a few hours enjoying the most incredible wildlife sightings, we’ll stop for breakfast, which will be a lodge-prepared pack. Though the break is not long, there’s more than enough time to stretch your legs, sip a rich cup of coffee, and soak in the morning sounds of the savannah.

As the day warms, we continue deeper into the southern Kruger, passing meandering rivers, sunlit plains, and iconic bushveld.

By lunchtime, we’ll arrive at a rest camp, where you can enjoy a meal at your own leisure, browse local curios, or refresh yourself with an ice-cold beer.

The journey back to the lodge winds through more of the park’s unique ecosystems, giving you a last chance to spot the wild before we return to the lodge by mid-afternoon.

Once back, you can cool off with a swim, relax with a drink in hand, and later, enjoy a hearty dinner, the perfect close to the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

3 Day Best of Kruger Private Luxury Safari

What is included in a 3 day private Kruger safari?

A 3 day private Kruger safari typically includes private game drives with an experienced guide, accommodation inside or near the Kruger National Park, daily meals, park conservation fees, and transfers to and from nearby airports or pickup points. Private safaris offer a more personalised experience, with flexible schedules and exclusive use of the safari vehicle.

Is a private safari better than a group safari in the Kruger National Park?

A private safari is a more flexible and intimate experience compared to group safaris. Guests can enjoy flexible game drive times, customised wildlife interests, and one-on-one attention from their guide. For couples, families, or photographers, a 3 day private Kruger safari provides greater comfort, privacy, and control over the experience.

What wildlife can I see on a 3 day private Kruger safari?

During a 3 day private Kruger safari, guests have excellent chances of seeing the Big Five along with giraffe, zebra, hippo, crocodile, and a wide variety of antelope and bird species. Wildlife sightings vary by season, but three days allows ample time to explore diverse habitats within the park.

When is the best time to book a 3 day private Kruger safari?

The best time for a 3 day private Kruger safari is during the dry winter months from May to September, when wildlife is easier to spot near water sources. However, the summer months from October to April offer lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and excellent birdlife, making it a great option for travellers seeking a quieter experience.

How far in advance should I book a 3 day private Kruger safari?

It’s recommended to book a 3 day private Kruger safari at least two to three months in advance, especially during peak travel seasons such as school holidays and the winter months. Private safaris have limited availability, so booking early ensures preferred dates, accommodation, and guide availability.
