The trip from the city to Hazyview is relaxed 5–6 hour drive, one that is full of stunning scenery, as you’ll make your way through the beautiful Mpumalanga countryside.
When you arrive at the lodge, you’ll have time to settle in and familiarise yourself with what will be your home for the next few days, before tucking into a light, refreshing lunch.
How you spend the rest of the afternoon is up to you. You can cool off with a swim, take a wander along the lodge’s peaceful walking trails, or have a nap.
As the day edges toward evening, your guide will collect you and you’ll head into the Kruger National Park for a once in a lifetime Sunset/Night safari, just as the late-afternoon light washes the bush in a golden light and the wildlife becomes active once again.
If you’re travelling in winter, the earlier sunset means you’ll have a longer night drive, while summer will treat you to gorgeous pastel skies and, if you’re lucky, the drama of a classic Kruger thunderstorm.
Your guide will do their best to give you incredible nocturnal sightings before returning you to the lodge at around 20:00 pm. There, a delicious dinner awaits, followed by a peaceful night’s rest.

The early morning hours are the absolute best time to spot wildlife on the move, especially the big predators, and we head to the Kruger bright and early, just as the first light spills across the horizon.
Your guide will choose the most wildlife-rich regions of the park for today’s game drive, giving you an excellent chance of encountering the Big 5 as the bush wakes up.
The lodge will provide delicious breakfast packs, and after about three hours of exploring the park, we’ll pause for a break, at a picnic spot or a rest camp, so you can enjoy your meal, stretch your legs, and take in the scenery around you.
Then it’s back to the safari as we wind our way through the Southern Kruger’s maze of gravel and dirt roads.
We will pass lush riverbanks and drive over bridge crossings, and we’ll stop for a while at peaceful watering holes and make our way through near endless grassy plains, each home to something new and interesting to see.
At around midday, we’ll stop at one of the rest camps for lunch, which is at your own cost. While in the camp you can browse for curios or spoil yourself with an ice-cold beer, a refreshing cool drink, or an ice cream before we begin to make our way back toward the lodge.
We return between 15:30 and 16:00 pm, leaving you plenty of time to put your feet up, enjoy a swim, and end the day with a scrumptious dinner.

We ease into the morning with a quick but satisfying breakfast, and at 8:00 am your guide will arrive at the lodge in a cool, comfortable vehicle, to take you up into the mountains.
The road to the legendary Panorama Route begins with a steep climb, carrying you high into the Northern Drakensberg.
As the altitude rises, so do the views, and you’ll be treated to sights of vast mountain vistas, forests and other dramatic scenery that is completely unlike what you’ve seen in the Kruger.
Throughout the day, we’ll visit some of the Panorama Route’s best attractions, including God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Blyde River Canyon, the Lisbon Falls, and the 3 Rondavels.
Up in the mountains the weather is far cooler, so you’ll want to bring a jacket. You’ll also need comfortable shoes because today we’ll do quite a bit of walking.
By midday, we arrive in the little mountain town of Graskop for an unrushed, indulgent lunch (their pancakes are famous) and afterward, you can explore the local curio shops to buy a few keepsakes.
By late afternoon, we’ll return to the lodge feeling content, and filled with fresh mountain air.
There’s plenty of time to enjoy a drink, a swim, or both before settling in for dinner.

We’re up early again and as the cool morning air tingles against your skin, we’ll set out once more for a sunrise safari in the Kruger.
These early hours are when the bush is at its most electric, and it’s not uncommon to see lions, hyena, leopard and more, going about the last of their nightly roaming. You’ll also see other game making the most of the cooler air, before the heat of the day settles in.
Rather than repeating a drive along the previous routes, your guide will lead you into fresh terrain to keep the morning drive exciting.
The Kruger’s massive road network winds across open savannahs, slips into riverine forests, and disappears into off-the-tourist-track places, those only known by the most seasoned guides.
Drawing on the season, recent sightings, and the generally known movements of wildlife, your guide will choose routes that give you the best chance of encountering something extraordinary.
By late morning, you return to the lodge, and the rest of the day is entirely yours. You can spend it floating lazily in the pool, relaxing in your room, enjoying a drink, or simply soaking up the golden African sunshine as it warms everything around you.

It’s a beautiful, hopeful time of day, ideal for those last special sightings.

By early afternoon, at around 12:30 pm, the shuttle will arrive and you will begin your smooth return to Johannesburg.
You’ll reach the airport area in the late afternoon to early evening, between 17:00 pm and 18:00 pm, just as the sun begins to dip.
