The drive to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve’s Shaws Gate takes approximately 50 minutes, and the road is a comfortable and scenic start to your late afternoon game drive.

After entering the reserve, it’s an exciting 30-minute game drive en route to the beautiful Umkumbe Lodge, and it’s common to spot a variety of wildlife along the way.

Upon arrival, guests can relax with a complimentary tea or coffee before the afternoon activities begin.
At 16:00 pm, joined by other lodge guests, you’ll set out for a three-hour sunset safari (please note that vehicles are generally shared, and private use cannot be guaranteed).

At around 17:30 pm, your ranger will stop for sundowner drinks and snacks in the bush, allowing you to take in the beautiful golden hues of the African sunset.

As night falls, the safari continues by torchlight, as you search for nocturnal wildlife as they begin their evening roaming.

You’ll return to Umkumbe Lodge around 19:00 pm, where a Boma Buffet-Style Dinner is served. This relaxed meal includes two meats, an array of vegetables and salads, freshly baked bread, and a delicious pudding.
