Morning

The morning starts early as we pick up guests from lodges in and around Hazyview (up to 5 km around the town).

If you’re travelling from farther out, you can easily join the group at the popular Perry’s Bridge Trading Post & Tourism Centre, or meet your guide directly at Numbi or Phabeni Gate.

Morning drives are considered the best time to travel the park, particularly the southern areas of the Kruger.

During the cool early morning, predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs are far more active, giving you an excellent chance of spotting these often elusive animals on the move.

After roughly three hours of exploring the park’s early-morning energy, we stop for a breakfast break at a rest camp or picnic spot.

Please be sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, good shoes and a hat. Winter travellers should bring along warm clothing while summer travellers should bring a rain jacket.

Afternoon

Around noon we’ll stop for a lunch break before continuing on with the safari until about 16:00 pm, when you will be returned to your lodge or to Perry’ Bridge, after a full day in the park.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shared Full Day Safari

Can you do a day safari in South Africa?

Absolutely, day safaris are one of the most popular ways to explore South Africa’s wildlife. The Full Day Kruger Park Safari from Hazyview is perfect for travellers who want to experience the highlights of the Southern Kruger in just one day, without needing to book an overnight stay.

Is one day enough for the Kruger National Park?

Yes, a single day can offer a fantastic taste of what the Kruger is all about. The southern region is especially rewarding, with its impressive concentration of elephants, lions, leopards, and general plains game. A guided 6–7 hour safari provides plenty of time to enjoy the prime early morning sightings and take in a wide mix of wildlife.

What is included in a full day Kruger Park safari?

Your experience covers all conservation fees, chilled bottled water, a pre-packed lunch, and return transfers from lodges in and around Hazyview (within 5 km). The entire day is spent exploring the park in a comfortable open 4×4 safari vehicle, guided by an experienced professional.

What is the best time of year to take a Kruger Park day safari?

The ideal months are May to September, when the dry season thins out the vegetation and animals gather around rivers and waterholes, making sightings easier. For gentler temperatures and little rain, April–May and September–October are also excellent choices.

Can solo travellers join this full day safari?

Yes, but a minimum of two guests is required, and group departures run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays for pairs or larger groups.
