The classic Rondavel is an iconic style of accommodation synonymous with the Kruger National Park. Each unit has its own private stoep, giving you a peaceful spot to unwind after a day of exploration. Breakfast and dinner are enjoyed at the rest camp restaurants.

Day 1: Transfer to Hazyview, Afternoon Safari, and Overnight in Kruger National Park

Your 5 day private safari starts the moment we set off for Hazyview. After a slow drive through the Highveld and into the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, we arrive in Hazyview and then continue you on to the Kruger National Park.

We will arrive at the Kruger Park around midday to warm welcomes, and you’ll have to settle into your traditional Rondavel.

After a light but tasty lunch at the rest camp, and as the sun begins to dip, you’ll be collected by your guide for your first official guided game drive.

As night falls, you’ll return to camp for a hearty dinner under a starlit sky.

Day 2: Morning and Afternoon Open Vehicle Safaris in the Southern Region of the Kruger National Park

Long before the sun rises, we’ll leave the camp, making the most of the cool, morning hours.

This early-morning drive will follow riverbeds, open plains, and well-known waterholes, all popular places to see predators on the move and herds gathering for their first drink of the day.

At around 11:00 am, we’ll stop at the closest rest camp for a relaxed breakfast before heading back out to follow fresh tracks and look for wildlife activity.

By early afternoon, the heat settles in and we return to the rest camp. This is your time to slow down, cool off in the pool, rest in the shade, and then have lunch. Lunch is for your own account and can be enjoyed at the camp’s restaurant.

At around 15:00 pm, we’ll set off again for an afternoon safari, exploring new routes and interesting corners of the park that only an experienced guide knows.

The southern region of the park is especially wildlife rich, thanks to its higher rainfall and perennial rivers.

These fertile tracts of land usually attract large concentrations of animals, making the area a hotspot for leopard and rhino sightings, along with wild dogs, elephants, and an ever-changing cast of other interesting wildlife, all drawn to the water.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari to the Central Region of the Kruger National Park

The day starts in the coolness before sunrise, when the sky is just beginning to lighten and while the nocturnal animals are just wrapping up their nightly hunts; other animals are just starting to wake up.

We leave the rest camp early and travel north into the Kruger’s central region for a full-day safari.

This will be a long, unhurried game drive that will take you into a wide stretch of the park, a place that very few visitors get to see.

The central plains consist of broad, golden savannahs, which is a dramatic change of scenery from the thicker vegetation down south.

These wide-open spaces are alive with zebra herds, giraffes, and massive buffalo, all of them drawing lions and cheetah to the area in impressive numbers.

Around midday, we’ll stop at a rest area for lunch, which is for your own account. The break is a chance to stretch your legs, watch the birds drift overhead, and enjoy the sights of a new camp before we continue north.

By the time we reach your new rest camp, your home base for the next two nights, there may be just enough daylight left for a short afternoon safari, depending on when we arrive.

Day 4: Morning, Afternoon, and Night Safaris in the Central Region of Kruger National Park

We’re up early again, leaving the camp just as the sun comes up.

These early hours are when the bush is at its most electric, even here in the central Kruger, and it’s not uncommon to see lions, hyena, leopard and more, going about the last of their nightly roaming.

You’ll also see other game making the most of the cooler air, before the heat of the day settles in.

The Kruger’s substantial network of roads criss-cross the central region of the park and your guide will choose routes that give you the best chance of encountering something extraordinary.

After a hearty breakfast at a nearby rest camp, the drive continues through the late morning, as we follow fresh tracks and come across all sorts of surprises.

By midday we’ll return to the camp, spending the hottest part of the day relaxing. You can cool off in the pool, stretch out in the shade, or simply do nothing at all until lunch, which you can enjoy at the camp’s restaurant.

At about 15:00 pm, we head out for an afternoon safari, heading off on new routes to keep the experience fresh and to increase your chances of spotting animals you haven’t encountered yet.

The highlight of this day is a night safari guided by SANParks Rangers.

With powerful spotlights sweeping across the land, you’ll search for the creatures that come alive after sunset. Predators and nocturnal animals are a part of the evening’s sightings. It’s the time of day when the Kruger feels utterly ferial.

Day 5: Morning Safari and Transfer to Johannesburg

The last morning begins with a bright and early start. We’ll go on one last 4–5-hour morning safari, giving you one more unhurried sweep through the bush to find any animals that have eluded you so far.

With your luggage packed in the vehicle, we’ll take a route that will lead us south toward Hazyview.

From Hazyview, you’ll continue onward to Johannesburg on a journey of roughly 5–6 hours.

We recommend staying overnight in Johannesburg, for your comfort and convenience.

If you prefer to fly out instead, you can choose a return flight from either Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS) or Skukuza Airport. Both have early afternoon departures, around 13:00 pm.
