While the bush may seem barren during the midday heat an afternoon safari can be one of the most exciting times of the day to enter the park.
With updates from the morning’s sightings, and the kind of intuitive knowledge that can only come from years of experience driving the roads of the Kruger, your guide will take you to those areas best known for afternoon wildlife sightings.
We will make our way through the Southern Kruger, stopping at busy afternoon watering holes, where wildlife gathers to drink, and cool off.
As the heat fades, animals emerge from the shade to feed, roam, and hunt, making this the time of day that often gives travellers surprise sightings.
Because afternoons in the Kruger can be warm year-round, you should remember to bring sun cream, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes. Winter evenings can cool down quickly, so keep a warm layer handy, and if you’re travelling in summer, pop a rain jacket into your bag.
